  Welcome to the Keyed-in site! This comprehensive and unique mathematics resource will provide you with a varied and highly motivating set of interactive resources that you will find invaluable.

Keyed-in is a weekly magazine. Every Monday morning, during term time, a new magazine will be automatically available as part of your subscription. Among the many features of the magazine are:

  Ed's puzzle page - each week a puzzle is presented that should be fun to solve. Pupils may click to see a hint if they don't know how to get started. The solution is also provided.

  Mental maths - These are timed mental activities encouraging accuracy and speed.
There are two versions of each one:
  • a test version, in which pupils are only allowed 15 seconds for each question;
  • a game version in which they can take as long as they like but points are awarded for accuracy and bonus points are awarded for speed.

Interactive worksheets - These are based on the Framework for teaching mathematics. A help button for each question provides two levels of support. Answers can be keyed in for immediate feedback.

  SATs preparation - Get ready for the test. This resource has attracted a great deal of interest. Practice papers in the SATs style are offered in interactive form so that pupils receive immediate feedback on their answers..

  Internet quest - the idea is to help pupils develop the skills needed to use the internet to search for factual information relating to mathematics. Each week a link to another site where pupils can start their search is given. Answers are checked automatically and a response is generated to give pupils immediate feedback.

  Great mathematicians - a different mathematician is featured each week. The purpose is to provide some information about the characters that have contributed to the subject and to appreciate their accomplishments. The language level and the description of the mathematics is kept to a level suitable for pupils in KS3.

  Fun with numbers - this section contains a wide variety of interactive puzzles and games that help pupils to develop confidence in their number skills.

  The serious stuff - the questions in this section require greater knowledge of syllabus content and are probably best suited to pupils in Years 8 and 9. An immediate response is given when pupils key in their answers.

  A quick quiz - a light-hearted quiz suitable for most pupils in Key Stage 3. Again, pupils will be able to see immediately whether they have the right answers.

  Strategy Games - a logical approach is needed for this section. New games are added regularly and there is already a wide variety to choose from.
